1. Cacara Compound Capsules
More
information
Background: Cacara Compound
Capsules have a long history of successful use to
regulate the bowels. The formula is based closely on that of Dr
John Christopher. Its main purpose is to improve detoxification
of the bowel by improving elimination of waste products. It
does this by improving passage time when slow and
by improving the bowel muscules such
that stools are passed at a healthy frequency.*
Naturopaths regard a healthy frequency as being 2-3 times a
day - as often as a person eats. If the formula is taken for
long enough - on average 6-9 months - it can be expected to
'retrain' the bowel to maintain a frequency of 2-3
times a day unaided.
This formula has two
purposes:
- Detoxification: To improve colon
(bowel) function so that toxic waste material is eliminated
more efficiently. For this reason Dr Christopher
recommended that it be given to everyone.
- If constipation is present, it reliably
cures it in the majority of cases.
Dosage: 1 capsules 3 times a day. This
can be varied initially, as follows:
Decreased dose: 1 capsules 3 times a
day may occasionally be too much for a patient. This might be
because a person is frail; or because they have a sensitive
bowel - eg Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Start on 1 capsule with
the main meal, and slowly increase.
Increased dose: To get to 2-3 bowel
movements a day, some people will need more. The guide is to
take enough herbs to get 2-3 bowel movements a day. This might
require 2 or 3 capsules with each meal temporarily for a
week or two. 4 or even 5 with each meal may be required
for a very few people. If this is not enough,
use Cape Aloe Compound just to 'get
things moving', then switch back to Cascara Compound, which
is more curative.
Other Recommended Products Cape Aloe
Compound, Psyllium Husks, Bio Mulit-flora, Cascara and Lavender
Capsules, Slippery Elm Tea or Capsules, Colit Capsules, Wild
Yam Capsules or Drops.
* The formula also restores muscle
movement where laxity has allowed a 'reservoir of food waste'
to develope. On x-rays, this can often be seen as a ballooning
of the caecum area.
